I love photo invitations for children's birthdays. At a time in their lives when you probably take the most photos, why not use one to add a little personality to the invitation. So I was only too happy to design one using the photo of the cutest little boy in the world! If I sound biased, it's because I am. This cute kiddo is my nephew, Anderson.

This weekend is his first birthday party and while we are just having a little brunch for friends and family, we couldn't do without the perfect little invitation.

My sister wanted an elephant and the photo, of course, and that's all the restrictions I had. I just played with some cute fonts and fun colors. My favorite is the blue gingham backer. I think it's the perfect touch for a little boy's invitation.
The only requirement for this custom design: masculine. Since I'm a pretty minimalist designer and I have a deep love for the color grey, it was pretty easy for me to keep it on the manly side. Using black, grey and bold typography, I had fun conveying the surprise aspect and the fact that he's turning 30 (not just your average birthday - I know because my next one will be 30 - yikes!). I printed the 'Shhh, it's a surprise' seal on the envelopes as well, and those were a hit.

It's been a big week! My wedding collection was featured on
I had a client that liked these baby shower invitations and coordinating menus so much, she ordered them twice. The first round, the colors were blue, grey and khaki, but this time, it was navy and green.
