This past weekend, I hosted a couples baby shower for my sister and brother-in-law in Austin. The theme was a 'Baby-Q' and it was such a hit! Couples showers are just fun, but when you throw in a little Salt Lick BBQ, pink lemonade, beer (and some cute paper goods), you just can't go wrong.

When it came to the invitations, I decided to go with red gingham and light pink. They are having a girl, but since it was a couples shower, I wanted it to be more cute BBQ and less 'baby'. I carried the invitation design and colors to the rest of the decor with coordinating signage, gingham napkins, mason jars and twine.

The party was a success - great weather and great company! We all can't wait to meet this baby girl! Only 2 months left!
I am just not an outdoorsy girl. I can't help it. Sometimes, my husband forgets this, and gets excited to do something that is a bit out of character for me. Like kayaking... As always, reality isn't as glamourous as the idea and in between 98 degree heat and my wimpy tendencies, things don't end up going quite as planned....Β BUT, at the end of the day, those moments are the funny parts, and just being outside and enjoying unique parts of our city together makes for a great evening. Carter gave me a solid 'B minus' for moderate whining, but a good effort overall. I've never been one to be upset with a grade like that, but I might shoot for an 'A' next time... if he'll have me!

I love photo invitations for children's birthdays. At a time in their lives when you probably take the most photos, why not use one to add a little personality to the invitation. So I was only too happy to design one using the photo of the cutest little boy in the world! If I sound biased, it's because I am. This cute kiddo is my nephew, Anderson.
