Baby Q

Photobucket This past weekend, I hosted a couples baby shower for my sister and brother-in-law in Austin. The theme was a 'Baby-Q' and it was such a hit! Couples showers are just fun, but when you throw in a little Salt Lick BBQ, pink lemonade, beer (and some cute paper goods), you just can't go wrong.

When it came to the invitations, I decided to go with red gingham and light pink. They are having a girl, but since it was a couples shower, I wanted it to be more cute BBQ and less 'baby'. I carried the invitation design and colors to the rest of the decor with coordinating signage, gingham napkins, mason jars and twine.

The party was a success - great weather and great company! We all can't wait to meet this baby girl! Only 2 months left!

Minted Design Challenge: Party Decor

Minted is growing some more with their latest challenge breaking into the party decor market. We were asked to design banners for any type of party: baby showers, holiday parties, anything. It just so happens that I am throwing a few baby showers next month, so I thought it would be fun to design a banner that was inspired by the one of them: Baby Icons. baby shower invitations

You'll have to wait to see the actual invitation, because they go out today. Just in case the mommy-to-be checks this blog, this will just have to be a little sneak peek. ;)

Voting is open for just a few more days, so if you are interested in browsing the creativity, you can check out all the designs here.

Custom Design: Elephant Baby Shower Invitations

As soon as I left my job at my old company, there was a baby boom. Seriously. I'm glad I didn't drink the water before I left! One of them was my friend Lori, who had her baby a few weeks ago - I am a little behind on the custom design posts! Lori shares my obsession love for USA network shows (Suits! White Collar! Covert Affairs!) and the Bachelor/ette/pad, and I miss seeing her every day, so I was honored that the girls at work had me design the invitations for her baby shower. baby shower invitations

Lori wanted the invitations to be inspired by her nursery bedding from Pottery Barn. The first thing that caught my eye was the cute stitches on the elephants' ears, so I played with those to create a unique layout that is playful, but still modern at the same time. Lori has a very classic style, so I didn't want to do anything too crazy, but I also didn't want her invitations to be like anyone else's!

I couldn't leave out a little elephant, could I?

I also designed some coordinating stationery too!

Congrats to Lori and her new little family!

Kristen at Paper Crave is featuring these sweet gender announcements on her blog today. gender announcements

I am so excited to share this cute idea that I did for a former coworker who is due any day now (it took me awhile to get some photos taken obviously!) I love when clients have fun ideas and I get to help execute them. I was honored to be one of the first to know their sweet little secret and anyways, I share a little more about how Courtney pulled it off here!

Spotted: Minted & Camille Styles

When I see a party or shower inspired by my invitation design it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, especially one as beautiful as this one. Minted featured a baby shower thrown by stylist and blogger Camille Styles, and I was so excited to see my Vintage Carriage baby shower invitation in the mix. The beautiful photos (by She-n-He Photography) speak for themselves, so I'll stop typing now. Enjoy! baby shower invitations
