Classic and Elegant Letterpress Birth Announcements

Classic Pink Letterpress Birth Announcement by Lauren Chism This is so late in coming, as you can see Sloan's first birthday has come and gone, but this birth announcement is classic and timeless and is just as perfect now, as it was over a year ago when I designed it, so I figured, why not go ahead and share it on the blog.

This announcement is sweet and simple. Classic scallops and the scripted lettering only adds to the classic elegance. I love her bright photo too. Something about the soft pink of the ink and Sloan's tiny pink lips - everything about this is just so darn pretty.

Sloan's mommy chose pretty pink envelopes, with dainty polka dot envelope liners and I think they work perfectly with the scalloped design on the announcement.

Featured: Little Fisherman Birth Announcements on OSBP

Today, a letterpress birth announcement that I did recently was featured on Oh So Beautiful Paper! little fisherman birth announcements by palm papers

I've been not-so-patiently waiting to share these birth announcements that I did for my friend Carrie and her sweet little baby boy, Parker. Even though they don't have the choice, our husbands are buddies (thank goodness) and share a particular fishing obsession, so I thought that theme was perfect for this future fisherman.

I mixed digital and letterpress printing (by Czar Press) for the first time with these announcements and really loved how they turned out.Β You can see some more photos and a funny story about the one track mind of my hubby over on OSBP.

Side note: don't you love the photo props?! They are courtesy of my husband's tackle box - who knew they would ever be used this way!

I was so excited to design the birth announcements for our friends and I LOVE how they turned out. Sometimes, I wonder if my design even matters, because all I can see when I look at it are those big baby eyes! Isn't he adorable?!

Custom Design: Introducing Cooper

Palm Papers Custom Birth Announcements My college roommate is a mommy! My friend Carrie and her husband welcomed little Cooper this summer and I was so excited to design these birth announcements. Let me tell you, he looks JUST like his daddy.

This is another instance where his middle name is what he will be called, so I featured his middle name larger (in a new favorite font that I can't stop using), while listing his full name below. I included his stats in a little patch at the bottom and then carried the pattern to the backer design.

Custom Design: Nursery Inspired Birth Annoucements

Erin Sander, from Erin Sander Design, is an amazingly talented interior designer here in Dallas and not surprisingly designed a stunning nursery for her son, Ryan. custom birth announcements

Wow! (I bet there's no question what she does when you walk into her home!) I love the mix of patterns and those blue drawer pulls. She wanted the birth announcements to be inspired by the nursery and I was excited to work with some bold colors and unique patterns.

I designed 2 concepts for her and I didn't want to take the nursery connection too literally. If you've seen the nursery, you'll know that I was inspired by it, but I wanted it to stand alone as a birth announcement that someone would love without having seen it.

Usually, I am partial to a certain design and I cross my fingers and hope they choose my favorite, but in this case, I loved both so much that I didn't know how to choose. Good thing that's not part of my job description. After a little pattern change, we had the final, adorable, product.
